SI-Q: Male vs Female Spiders How do smaller male spiders avoid being eaten by large female spiders?
Searching “Ultimate truth cannot be found without first discovering relative truth” — Nagarjuna What is truth? What does it describe? How is it determined? Within science truth is relative. It exists as a representation of what we can consistently and accurately measure. For this reason, what the scientific world accepts as truth is constantly changing and shifting to reflect better methods of measurement. Truth, as accepted by the scientific community has, at certain points in human history, changed so drastically, that our understanding of existence (according to science) has taken fundamental and irreversible turns.Within religion truth is absolute (relatively). It is not subject to human interpretation or comprehension. It is a function of belief rooted in the concept of an all powerful higher being, and as such is unmalleable, unchanging and immeasurable. However, the absolute nature of religious truth depends on the religiosity of the individual and their belief/faith. i.e. Religious truth is absolute, relative to the individual who experiences it.How do these different concepts of truth relate and combine within the larger human experience? The life experiences of the individual are essential in the perception of truth. These experiences, though characteristically organic, are constrained to limited presentations of truth, which are by nature, confined linearly by time. Such experiences and the choices made upon them, can be illusory, creating the false impression of knowledgeable action, when in fact action is taken within the limited confines of what is known. In essence, within the short time available, we experience life through the truths that we know (relative truth) rather than the truth that is (absolute truth). In Searching the journey is not only individual, but also reflects the general collective movement toward the absolute truth. With each generation we inch closer, disregarding the relative truths our ancestors held dear in favor of our own, which in turn will be discarded by those that come after. It is a continuous cycle of life and death, guided by (and in service to) the natural human inclination to know more and by extension, be more.
